There are so few truly lazy people in the work arena that this article may well be a matter of 'preaching to the choir' and for that please accept my deepest apologies!
The economic times here in the US and, I suspect, globally among the 'industrial' nations, is challenging for many that are in the lower and middle class income groups. The move from agriculture to industry to information/services has created quite a boom for those that are in the position of creating and/or maximizing the income generating trends [aka global economy] while those of us of the 'working' class are scrambling just to pay fuel costs and maintain living standards -- while looking over our shoulders for the next corporate downsizing. . .
Ok, so some of us are doing ok with our own businesses: hair care, auto detail shops, laundromats, dry cleaners and a few other staple businesses are and will almost always be in demand! But what about those of us that have work experience in other areas that need to be channeled into a viable business venture for ourselves? How many of us can truly launch a million dollar website, or sell millions of dollars in products or provide millions of dollars in virtual assistance services? Very few. What are we to do then in order to generate income in a relatively 'easy' manner, while balancing our other life's duties and responsibilities?
There's no 'easy' answer to that question. However, there is one absolute truth that all aspiring and new entrepreneurs must keep in mind. While working for yourself does and may bring great emotional and physical benefits in relationship to not having to worry about being fired, laid off, wardrobe concerns and/or commuting there are other demands that bring a definite measurable level of stress to being self-employed. You have yourself to depend upon, and that includes your physical, mental and spiritual health, to create the income needed for your survival!
Be prepared to:
1. put in hours asking questions of those with experience in the field you choose
2. research everything that you can find regarding being self-employed and entrepreneurism
3. spend more time marketing, promoting and exposing your business than actually doing whatever it is you do -- unless you have some very deep financial pockets for your advertising budget.
4. embark upon a path of absolute identity change: becoming a successful business person after having been an employee is something that will take a tremendous amount of energy to transform yourself into. Which is why so many start ups and small business fail: most people don't realize they can't continue seeing the work world from the eyes of a worker and must start seeing it thru the eyes of a CEO.
Once you establish a good working rhythm for those four [and by no means exhaustive] list of items, you'll begin to see your business, no matter how simple the structure, for what it is -- business, aka work!
And while there is literally no end to simple, relatively 'easy' business ventures offered via the internet and the global business platform, it is STILL work!
Make sure the business you choose, is something you truly love doing. That's the key to having demanding work and responsibilities invigorate rather than drain! Motivation MAKES it 'easy' which in turns makes 'work' seem like play!

As you all know, I've been working diligently exploring simple, FREE and easy ways to generate income online thru various opportunities. Recently I shared some information regarding reading emails and/or ads in order to earn money while surfing the internet.
Someone asked me if there was, “REALLY companies that PAID people to read emails and ads???” I found this to be an interesting, yet all to common response to the notion that personal time and attention is EXTREMELY precious therefor making both very valuable! I began thinking about the countless looks of sheer amazement I get from people all the time when during the course of a conversation they mention their favorite TV or radio commercial and I have absolutely no awareness of the commercial and frequently the product! Even when I watched TV for 2 to 3 hours a day a couple of times a week, I NEVER watched commercials on purpose! Commercials provided bathroom, refrigerator, check-what's-cooking-on-the-stove or see-if-the-baby is awake breaks – while a few could be entertaining my patience for scripted performances to separate me from my money was then, and still is, practically zero! Of course these days, I only see commercials when visiting family or friends as I've given away my 'idiot box' more than 2 years ago and I manage to find other creative ways to amass my quota of idiot clutter without television. . .
At any rate, while searching for free software with which to generate mailing lists along with creating a newsletter I happened upon a site, Zinester, that offered both mailing list services AND directory listing for newsletters, aka ezines! In order for me to get a few good ideas for my newsletter layout, etc. I decided to click on some of the ezine listings in the Zinester free directory and what did I find? A very interesting and lucrative pay-to-read email and advertising site that I hadn't come across before.
The ezine author was giving rave reviews of the site, Inbox Dollars and I had to check it out for myself: it was purported that the payout for screening some of the advertisers was anywhere from $1 to $5 and the minimum cashout was $5000.00! What actually challenged me was the fact that she also mentioned it took her less than 2 weeks to generate $5000.00 from reading emails and/or ads!
While investigating Inbox Dollars [of course I signed up 
], I noticed that the majority of THEIR advertisers were, drum roll maestro, paid to read email/ads companies! This of itself was eye opening yet the real astonishing thing was that nearly 75% of these sites were paying $1 and upwards of $20 to read emails and/or ads! All I kept thinking was, “How are these sites such a secret?” and “Why aren't more people reading emails and/or ads for cash?”
As I signed up for more of the higher paying 'screening' sites, I began musing over how it was they could afford to pay such decent amounts of money to their membership. Naturally the answer revealed itself by the third sign up. . .
These sites are “billboards” of the new millennium and their 'hook' is they can GUARANTEE a set number of ad/email views to their customers [advertisers] based on their membership rolls!Many of them are scrambling to amass 10s of 1000s of members because, naturally the more members they have, the higher the ad rates they can charge! And with their sites being accessed by 100s to 1000s of members daily, most of these sites can afford to share the ad revenues to the members – easily!
So that's the 'catch.' Offer sign up bonuses to members, I saw bonuses as high as $8000 delimited to the first 5000 members, etc., get the 'viewer' levels high as quickly as possible and offer/deliver happy to oblige audiences to potential advertising clients! Brilliant! [Why didn't I think of that???] If you're still wondering how that financially plays out here's a likely scenario:
Initially sell ad space at a rate of $7 per 'click.'
Recruit 'viewers' by offering to pay them $2 per 'view.'
When membership reaches critical mass, say 1000 members increase the ad space cost.
There's absolutely NO personnel, office space, etc. overhead because the entire business is maintained online and every 'member' is an independent contractor – not an employee, plus the pc/laptop that has the site on it could easily be in someone's bedroom, kitchen, garage, etc.
The cost of server space to host these websites is less than $7 per month so even with only 20 clients at the initial $7 rate, an almost 2000% profit has been made in the first month alone.
Paying out 1 to 2% of the profit will definitely offset taxes and still leave a hefty profit for the sites' owners.
Now while my scenario is very far from being mathematically exact, the ratios and format are clearly what's taking place. Therefor, paying people to read emails and/or ads is something that any smart, savvy and shrewd WebPreneur would do in order to run a successful internet 'advertising agency!' This is internet marketing at its BEST: guaranteed audience for the clients; paid membership for 'reviewing' products and/or services! And it gets better on most of the sites – purchases or sign ups to clients' sites/businesses also accrues earnings: and if you shop online anyway this is a great way to get a built in 'rebate' or 'discount' for your purchases!
As the quintessential Queen of, “I don't have time to waste looking at commercials!” I must say that I'm impressed with the payouts of some of these new and innovative 'commercial outlet' sites! To their credit many require you view their sponsors' sites for 60 seconds and less!
I also know that the internet has fads that come and go however, marketing and audiences are the bread and butter for nearly all businesses in existence! While the going is good I'm advising everyone to find their favorite commercials online – and get paid for doing so!
Below is a list of 2 sites that are still recruiting to build their membership to the 'critical mass' level of 5000 and are pitching $1000 and $2000 sign up bonuses to all that sign up before the quota is met:
Now, of course there IS the possibility of scams, hackers and just plain ne'er do wells in cyberspace that all of us need to be on the alert for. Luckily, yours truly, is always thinking about the flip side to all that she brings to the table for sharing and I also did some investigating into fraudulent email/ad pay to view sites so that it can't be said that I willfully provided 'shaky' information to my readers. There is a website, GPTBoycott that exists solely to gather information and expose those sites that are unscrupulous, etc. There are listings of sites cited for not paying as contracted along with sites on the 'Watch List' for those sites with five or fewer complaints. I found the listings to be recent [for the most part] and suggest that a thorough web search be made before joining any collective wherein earnings OR sales are offered. Further, none of the sites mentioned in this article appear in either list – which I checked AFTER viewing the sites and researching them.
That's it in a nutshell: anyone can earn money, as in get paid, to view emails and/or ads from quite a few reputable sites just by investing 2 to 4 hours per day, week or month: it also increases your payout for recruiting others to join the sites, this is known as 'referrals,' however it is actually building a down line of active participants that generate additional revenues for your account.
Once upon a time, nearly 36 years ago, I had quite a bit of leisure time on my hands as I was expecting my first born child. While planning the nursery, and buying the layette I often watched TV as I scoured the mail order catalogs for bargains and items on my wish list. To be completely honest, I can't remember one, not one, of the commercials that I may have viewed back then – however, had I been paid to watch and pay attention, I bet I could manage to recall and even sing a jingle or two. . .
Which just goes to show, your mind, memory and/or intellectual 'mental' property is just as precious as your bank account and BOTH need to be increased on a regular basis!

Working from home often appears to be all fun and games to those that seek to be self-employed and/or those that feel they must work for someone else. In far too many cases, entrepreneurs have a higher stress level when it comes to being 'accountable' for producing profits in order to support themselves, family and often employees. The position of responsibility for making the whole thing 'go' as opposed to being a part of a 'going' operation is extremely challenging for those that are newly entering the self-employment arena either by choice or due to being downsized from gainful employment else where.
Yet, there is great satisfaction in being an 'executive' and 'boss' of one's own income generating mechanism: self respect for a job well done, even in the beginning stages, cannot be over exaggerated. For those that are in the first 3 years of working from home or being self employed in a small business, there is often a tight budget and rarely instant overnight riches. However, the need for executive level pampering in the form of healthy relaxation and regeneration 'treatments' are a critical part of the best 'business plans' for those seeking to stay in business!
As a Certified Health Consultant the awareness that Health Is Wealth is always foremost in my consultations with clients and customers. Although my journey into self-pampering began in my youth with the 'luxuriating' gifts of bubble bath, body powder and cologne sets from my mother, the practicality of home spa techniques has evolved into a viable recommendation for all, especially those with limited funds and great emotional as well as physical demands. Luckily, we are living in an age where some of the most healing tools for home spa use are very reasonably priced and easily accessible to all!
Water Filter. Chlorine displays neurotoxic properties, especially in its gaseous form. So, while taking a shower may feel good to the muscles and mind, often it is causing unseen/undetected damage to the lungs and internal organs as it is inhaled/absorbed into the body. There are numerous shower water filters on the market, some that filter out many more deleterious elements than chlorine and others that focus only on chlorine. It doesn't matter how 'up scale' the filter is as long as it removes chlorine from your shower water. Showering in filtered water actually re-hydrates the body as you bathe and that is an added plus!
Massage Shower Head. Here too, there are countless models available in a very wide price range: the good thing is it isn't important how much you pay for your shower head ESPECIALLY once you've installed the filter because the focus is to get a good 'massage' via focused streams of water against the muscles of your body! Starting your shower with the temperature as warm as you can stand, then turning the massage head to focused streams as you soap up [and hopefully turn, stretch and bend] assists the blood in flowing to the surface of the skin while the pressure of the water stimulates the muscles, tendons and tissues causing enhanced blood flow as well.
Foot Bath. Again, these can be found at most any drug store and even some major home improvement stores at reasonable investment costs. For a true executive treatment, get a foot bath that 'bubbles' and has massaging elements for your feet to rest upon. Sitting at a desk all day [working on a computer] causes the blood to often drain to the feet and become stagnant: almost everyone has experienced tired, swollen feet at the end of a 10 hour day where serious deadlines have had to be met. A good massaging foot bath helps to draw toxins out of the feet while stimulating precious blood flow. With the addition of a little essential oil [lavender, peppermint or tea tree] the foot bath becomes a healing, soothing treatment that literally imparts peace to the mind!
While scheduling your week's duties and tasks to be accomplished to keep your business in the 'black' make sure to calendar in some executive level pampering – it'll help your body retain it's youthful exuberance while reinforcing to yourself that you are, indeed, The CEO!

Recently I sent an email announcement regarding the launching of a new Small/Home Business Networking site, S-B Global Enterprise Network. Within a few days I received numerous responses saying the mailing list sign up link didn't work. The first replies came from trusted friends so I swiftly assured them I'd add them to the email list and sent another link to the GBC Forum membership page. Upon visiting one of my favorite business networks, Black Business Space, I had another message stating my links didn't work! Needless to say [but I got to say it] I was perplexed!
I checked the links from my machine [again] and they worked fine! However, I also discovered the problem with the mailing list link: in order for the 'script' to work [i.e., accept the sign up info AND forward same to yours truly] an email client had to be installed on the user's pc! For the most part, I usually think of myself as the 'last to know' when it comes to cutting edge technology, software and programming: so if I know an efficient way to be able to email the link to a web page, I generally think that most of my colleagues do too! Obviously this is not the case, which gives me yet another opportunity to provide some useful information/instructions: this time as to how to maximize internet based telecommunications via a local email client.
What an 'email client' is:
Software installed on a local pc or laptop that accesses a remote server and retrieves email messages for review which also allows for drafting, composing and sending emails, etc.
What an 'email client' is good for:
When using a web browser, in order to send a link to a great page select 'file' in the browser left hand corner [FireFox], select 'send link' and your email client opens up with a neat 'compose message' window so the only thing to be done is add the name of the recipient and press 'send!' They are also good for sending emails to 'contact us' email addresses found on websites that are not form-to-server based: that means sometimes, as in the case of my mailing list form, in order for the process to work an email is generated when you select 'submit.' With an email client installed, this process is handled automatically and there is never a need to 'cut and paste' website urls or other addresses into an email on a pop3 or ISP provided account.
What are some good 'email clients?':
Thunderbird, Mulberry and Eudora
Installing an email client is as simple as downloading a file [which it is] and then 'clicking' on it to install to your computer or laptop. Before installing an email client, get the pop3 and SMTP information from your email account provider. The pop3 info is usually something like, “mail.yahoo.com” and is generally also the SMTP info as well. Once the incoming [pop3] and outgoing [SMTP] servers are identified and saved the only other thing to do is input your email address: absolutegenius@email.com and your password: thisismypassword, and voila´ your email client is configured!
Now, this is NOT a technical, step by step instructional piece on how to install and set up email clients! What this is truly about is making the greatest use of your computer's resources which in turn makes for ease and efficiency of your time and energy resources. Fortunately, in depth technical step-by-step instructions are provided at the websites of those email clients listed above AND at any email client website that you may search and find more to your liking.
Being in business requires a willingness to take charge of technology and make it serve you and your business to the ultimate degree! That being said, being able to click a button on your desktop and have ALL of your email delivered to you is something that I find indispensable: no need to open my web browser [IE or FireFox] or my ISP provider's home page; no need to remember my passwords [cause I have a zillion necessary accounts]; and no need to miss out on sending a 'thumbs up' email message to the owner of a great 'for profit' blog because their form is email based!
Explore 'email clients' via the web or the links provided. Relax, take some time to thoroughly comprehend the many benefits of having one installed on your desktop and then choose one that fits your style! I have two on my desktop, for two different email domains, without any conflict whatsoever! Step into the driver's seat with YOUR telecommunications – and enjoy the ride!

You may or may not know that Website Directory Submission is quickly becoming a very popular and easy way to get quality, one way links to your website.
These kind of links are exactly what the search engines are looking for. The websites with more quality, one way links are typically the sites that rank the highest, period.
With that said, there are several websites dircetory submission programs on the market. The best and easiest to use is a new program called Directory Submitter.
The software currently contains around 1700 website directories, all free. It is the most straightforward program that we've come across, in that all you need to do is:
1. Input your website details (i.e. title, description, URL, etc.) into the software
2. Click on the directory you want to submit to
And then the program will automatically fill in your website details. Then, you simply click the submit button and your website is instantly submitted to the directory. Then, you can move to the next directory, go through the list, and by the time you're finished you'll have roughly 1500 one way links pointing to your website.
I can't think of an easier way to get links. Of course, if you're going to get links this quickly, it's important to vary your website title (anchor text) every 20-30 links or so, to make things look more natural to the search engines.
You can do this very easily via Directory Submitter when you create your project in the beginning.

1. Dosh Dosh, Advertising Stats
I've been working for almost 40 years! Paying into social security, IRS and many, many charitable organizations -- not to mention raising my children as I supported them and myself! The majority of those years were spent working for businesses and corporations, although I began free-lance word processing in 1981 as an off-and-on supplemental venture right up through today!

As many of you know amidst my diligent studies and research to bring ways of earnestly generating income online [preferably passive income as my first choice] along with moving to another state my days have been filled with change: seeing new places and routes to travel to and from the usual mundane errand locales AND cruising web sites and business offerings to share with my readers.
The physical 'newness' is one that will quickly pass as I navigate to and from the bank, library, lakes [I now live in a city with at least 4 lakes in it – yaaaaay!], grocery store, electronic/office supply chain [yes, I have to get my fix of that at least every other week] and so on. However, the 'newness' of viable internet business offerings is an entirely different matter.
First of all, I browse countless lead stories and articles for hours on a daily basis looking for legitimate offerings so that when I find something 'new' and solid, while being comparatively simple to integrate into an existing or start up online business, I'm always excited to investigate it further. However, finding 'new' and solid ways for the everyday person like myself to get involved in is becoming a rarity. The internet has become inundated with countless sites that boast and brag, “This is THE secret to success! You can make $100s of dollars instantly without doing anything except paying your membership money. . “ blah blah blah. Countless. In fact there are so many of these sites and so many people inviting me to these sites I'm beginning to get good at 'smelling' them before I even click on the link!
What is disturbing though, is the fact that many, many people are seriously looking to generate both passive and active income via the internet and quite a few of these websites are designed to take advantage of that fact. Because so many people are without jobs altogether, while others are struggling with income from low wage paying jobs and need additional financial 'flow' in order to exist more comfortably between paydays, the need for access to reliable income information and methods is crucial. Then there are the sensible people that are doing 'ok' with their current jobs and/or finances and are looking for ways to supplement their income as they venture into a self-employment modality. All things being equal, even the 'greedy' are looking for ways to make more money as safely and swiftly as possible without having to add an additional 5 to 10 hours to their working day [including travel, etc.]. Therefor, many unscrupulous and even just opportunistic 'business' ventures are being promoted to get the attention, commitment and investment of often times scarce 'excess' money in order to participate in a 'better' income generation vehicle as these 'businesses' claim to be. While posing as a legitimate business and offering 'secrets' or 'proven' methods of amassing great wealth is not illegal, in many cases it is extremely unethical!
There are the sites that 'insure' a rapid income growth and long term residual income if you simply join the 'network.' Here, the membership is generally free, and you earn 'points' for exchanging website information with other members. These are actually relatively good opportunities for marketing your goods or services however it should be noted that most other 'members' are looking to do the exact same thing and many are in the exact same financial predicament – swimming upstream in order to make it to higher ground and avoid drowning in a sea of debt!
Yet it is the sites that boast the 'priceless' package of training, marketing and product materials that are the absolute worse [in a lot of cases] when it comes to 'smoke and mirrors' in order to stupefy people into buying into their 'team!' Looking at these sties carefully, I find they offer 4 or 5 eBooks, 5 to 10 CDs or DVDs, 2 or 3 software programs, access to members only webinars, teleconferences, seminars, workshops and conventions all at the very low prices of $____. And that is the catch: for those that have that much time on their hands wherein they can read, view, study, internalize and put into practice all the pertinent information being offered by these 'opportunities' one may as well enroll in a local community college or certificate program! The college or cert program would prove to be a lot less stressful because you know up front what to expect to be taught, how much time it will take to get necessary assignments done and turned in, you have access to not only the instructors but counselors, classmates and tutors, etc. And there is the assured guarantee that at the successful completion of a business college course or certificate program there will be either a diploma, certificate of completion or degree!
Now don't misunderstand my position on all of this 'online wealth for the average Jane/Joe' business ventures: I'm not against them per se, I'm just leery that far too many naive or trusting individuals aren't carefully reading between the lines in order to recognize that the real benefit offered by these sites are at best, tips and tricks from seasoned internet business people and the opportunity to connect with others willing to pay for those tips and tricks! Some of the sites that I investigated actually have good references [and cost a pretty penny to join] and can offer some practical guidance to would be and start up entrepreneurs. However, those sites are few and far between. . .
If you're serious about working from home or working for yourself in a small business environment be honest with yourself regarding the skills you already have; the time you have to invest in gaining additional skills [if needed for the type of venture you wish to operate] and the cost of investing both your time and finances into training to become a successful business person. Then if you really would rather get training online by a 'seasoned' professional or even join an online community of business professionals or entrepreneurs by all means do so with your eyes wide open!
